Community Leader of the Year is sponsored by Mental Health First Aid Wales

Claire Reid is the Director for Mental Health First Aid Wales.

What encouraged you to sponsor the Torfaen Community and Volunteer Awards?

As a business that is based in Blaenavon, we are always looking for ways to support our local community by using local suppliers and employing local people where possible. We see this as a way of celebrating the good work the people and businesses in Torfaen do, often for little recognition.

Why you’re sponsoring Community Leader of the Year?

We are delighted to sponsor the community leader of the year award. Anyone who serves their community deserves recognition for their tireless commitment to those they support and we are honoured to be able to support this award.

Why are awards like TCVA important?

As a society, we are increasingly relying on the support of our local communities, be it via local leaders or volunteers who give their time and commitment for little or no gain to themselves.  It’s important we collectively value and recognise these contributions.

Why is it important to showcase Torfaen in this way?

Is gives us the opportunity to help build a community, foster a sense of pride within a community, and raises an awareness of all the good things that are available on a local level.

Residents with community pride are more likely to speak positively about their town to others and to volunteer with organizations and activities that support the common good.
