About Us

Torfaen Voluntary Alliance (TVA) was set up in 1998 and is the County Voluntary Council (CVC) for Torfaen.

We support community groups, charities, social enterprises and volunteers across Torfaen. Our aim is simple, to help local organisations grow, succeed and make a difference.

Our Aim

Our aim is to support a strong, connected voluntary sector in Torfaen.

Whether it’s helping a new group get started, supporting a funding application, or connecting people and organisations, everything we do is about creating positive change in our communities.

What We Do

We don’t run services like food banks or community activities ourselves. Instead, we support the groups that do.

We help by:

  • Giving advice on funding, governance and running your organisation
  • Providing training and support to build skills and confidence
  • Helping groups grow, work together and become more sustainable
  • Connecting organisations, volunteers and partners across Torfaen
  • Promoting the value of the voluntary sector and speaking up for its needs

Working Together

We work closely with partners across Torfaen and beyond to make sure the voice of the voluntary sector is heard.

This includes working with:

Our role is to make sure local groups are represented when decisions are mad

Who We Support

We support:

  • Community and voluntary groups
  • Charities
  • Social enterprises
  • Volunteers
  • Local residents

Membership is free and open to all - download your form from here.

How We Work

We are an independent charity, but we work closely with other organisations across Wales through the Third Sector Support Wales (TSSW) network.

Our core funding comes from the Welsh Government, and we also work with partners across Gwent to support shared priorities.

Our Mission & Values

Growing the Voluntary & Community Sector in Torfaen so that together we can make the BIGGEST difference in OUR COMMUNITIES!

We recognise that 'how' we deliver our mission is just as important as what we do if we want to see the sector nout only survice but flourish in Torfaen.  TVA believe:

....... in being honest and clear about TVA's direction

....... in bringing Members and partners together around a shared mission

....... in ensuring that voluntary organisations do not feel alone

....... in helping early, before our members or commuities reach crisis

....... in going the extra mile to help Members & Communities achieve their goals

....... in maximising peoples' potential

....... in listening: to volunteers, to our members & to our dedicated team of staff

....... in helping people to have their story heard.

Our Team and Governance

TVA is led by a Board of Trustees who ensure the organisation is well run and moving in the right direction.

Our day-to-day work is delivered by our staff team, who support groups, volunteers and partners across Torfaen. We provide advice, deliver support, and help turn ideas into action.

We’re a friendly and approachable team, here to help, whether you have a quick question or need more in-depth support.
