The 3rd Torfaen Community & Volunteer Awards are happening on October 20th at The Parkway Hotel & Spa.

Many amazing local organisations and businesses are supporting TCVA23, here we’re looking at some of those.

Emma Davies-McIntosh is the Service Development Lead Integrated Wellbeing Networks Torfaen for Integrated Wellbeing Networks.

What encouraged you to sponsor the Torfaen Community and Volunteer Awards?

Volunteers are the backbone of activities in the community that keep people connected. They provide activities, services and support. They are the helping hand and the listening ear that people need in difficult times, often responding in a more timely and appropriate way than a service would.

Why are awards like TCVA important?

As public services, it is really important that we recognise the considerable efforts of people living in our communities who go above and beyond to support others. Awards like this help to do this, but its also important that we recognise the smaller, but equally important, contributions of both formal volunteers and the people that do good things for others every day.

Why is it important to showcase Torfaen in this way?

Communications that showcase and celebrate local organisations, volunteers or businesses makes more people aware of them, therefore promoting further connections across our communities. This helps to promote sustainability for these activities, enabling them to continue and build on their work.

About Integrated Wellbeing Networks

Connecting Torfaen is the partnership brand for the work we do to encourage connections across the community between people, between people and activities and between the services supporting people within a place. These connections enable people to access the things that keep them happy, healthy and well. When they need some support from services, these connections help make that happen. By working together we can better understand our communities, better support and promote community assets and better respond when people face challenges to their resilience.

We look forward to celebrating all the amazing work that’s been happening in Torfaen in the past year with the awards that happen on October 20th at The Parkway Hotel & Spa.

In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted with all the latest information across our socials using the hashtag #TorfaenSaysThanks.
